teach me how to write on a chalkboard.

in institute yesterday, we discussed discovering and developing our talents and abilities. so, naturally talents have been on my mind for the past few days. sometimes recognizing my own talents can be difficult when i try to move past the obvious ones like "singing".

one thing i do love is recognizing the talents of other people. maybe i have a talent for recognizing talents. on a side note, that reminds me of one time when brynn and i were shopping in sugarhouse and someone stopped and asked us if we had seen "high school musical"and other similar cheesy movies. when we said yes, they said we looked like we were fourteen and had a unique "style", and they thought we should come audition for a role in a movie. yeah...i'm not talking about a "talent" search like that...

anyway.

so i started to make a conscious effort to notice the talents of those around me.  and can i just say, i am surrounded by some pretty talented people!

these people are
master brainstormers.
delegators.
educators.
communicators.
listeners.
singers.
actors.
smilers.
harpists.
public speakers.
artists.
pianists.

they
are kind.
are clever.
never forget my name.
notice people who need a happy thought.
make people laugh.
are smart.
are positive.
work hard.
can study for long periods of time.

i recently caught myself not paying attention to my math professor when i realized that i was really paying more attention to how he wrote on the chalkboard. and you know what i decided? that is a talent! he is a professional chalkboard writer, no joke. he makes it look easy...even though i know it's not. i decided that would be a pretty neat skill to develop. i guess, in conclusion to this rambling, i would just like to say that over the past few days i have come to better understand that talents and abilities can be life-encompassing, or they can be as simple as "i'm good at writing on the chalkboard". and that's okay. one type isn't better than the other, but it is up to me to develop and share both.
