on the plane ride home: "mostly, this conference taught me in a very literal way that despite diverse backgrounds, cultures, religions and countries, students from across the globe are dedicated to improving the world and being leaders in education and in their communities...i really feel like there are future world leaders within this group...we as delegates are seeking for innovative solutions to global challenges...it made the world seem so small--everyone is connected in some way.... this conference taught me that i need to take action on ideas that i have in order to make improvements within my community."

brain dump

i have officially tried to start a blog post about 5 times since my last one but none of them got very far.

the truth is it's been a long few weeks with a lot of fun and not so fun. the happiest bit of all is that the weather is starting to warm up and i feel like the winter blues are going away. sometimes i wish that my worries and indecision would go away with it...hasn't happened yet.

today i went to the store and bought so much produce--i am thrilled to have fresh food! it's been a while. just one of the luxuries of college that happens... every few months. i decided to go the extra mile and cut up all of my veggies and fruit and put them in baggies so i can just grab them and go. along with cooking all of my chicken for the week. this was 100% inspired by my sister, the super-mom bryttin.

in other news, i got my list of participants for GHA! i made my first call to all of them this week and they all seem excited. i can't wait for the coming adventure with them this summer. in the meantime i have to come up with several more Personal Development groups and try to book the governor to speak. more to be done there for sure.

i have approximately 5 weeks until i am done with math forever. just a happy thought for your saturday evening.

i got sunkissed in st. george during spring break. it was perfect! i also went to the zoo with my neices...it was a blast. they are adorable and absolutely love the giraffes!

daylight savings is magical. i love that the daylight lasts a little longer. i also love walking to work early and seeing the sunrise. what can i say...i love cedar city.

so there's the update. life is busy and i have few complaints. hooray for spring!

on being bold

EXHIBIT A: my roommate jenna.

jenna had a big goal. her goal was to be the student body president at SUU.  she was determined to accomplish it. she debated like a champ. she campaigned like a champ. she lost in the primaries by 12 votes. she was sad. i was sad. i know how much she loves this university and the hard work she had put in before the campaign even began through speaking with clubs, organizations, and administrators.

being bold means putting yourself out there and having the courage to break precedents and try something new. being bold means speaking your mind even when you know people might not agree. being bold means being fearless while leading a group of people to action. being bold means staying classy and positive even when you feel defeated.

jenna, you are BOLD and i am so happy I got to be a small part of your big goal. fortune favors the bold, and thats why i know there are bigger and better things out there for you. thanks for teaching me about taking risks and trying new things.
